Samantha and Joel’s friendship began ten years ago in a random college class. Over time they’ve grown closer through moves across states, career changes, and adopting their adorable dog Griffy. And now their journey has taken the next step with a beautiful wedding ceremony at The Vintage Rose in Tustin, CA. Today we're sharing something a little different than our usual wedding film goodness. We just got back from a fantastic road trip all over Northern California and thought you would enjoy following us on our journey. Come watch below!
This was our first time shooting on anamorphic lenses, which has always been a dream of ours.
Put simply, anamorphic creates a cinematic widescreen look with lots of oval bokeh, unique compression, and strong horizontal flaring. It's the standard format for most blockbuster films and is synonymous with the "Hollywood look."
For years anamorphic was so expensive that only top-tier Hollywood productions could have access, and most filmmakers have had to “fake the look” with filters and crops. It’s so exciting to finally see newer, more affordable versions becoming available to all different levels in the industry like us.
Thanks again to our friend Jacob letting us borrow his lens for our road trip to Northern California. Follow us as we go wine tasting in Napa Valley, explore Redwoods National Park near Crescent City, visit the Oregon/California border, hang out at Battery Point Lighthouse, and run around San Francisco.
Who would have guessed that a chance meeting on a carnival cruise line would have led JoAnn and James on a decade of adventure and an incredible wedding day? Everything about this wedding matched these two perfectly - the elegant Art Deco decor, the funky and unique venue, the relaxed pace of the day, and the unbelievable rager of a party in the night (including a perfectly timed confetti and CO2 cannon blast on the crowd). It's the final result of months of planning their day, capturing the ingredients of the experience, and crafting it together into a perfect memory. We had a fantastic time working with quality local vendors to create this styled shoot, and we hope this will give you the inspiration you need to create your best day ever!
Five years ago Jessica and Drew took a chance on a Bumble date - all while debating career changes, moving to new cities, and handling health struggles within their families. That date and the relationship it sparked has led to many adventures including long-distance dating, living together during a pandemic, and an intimate wedding ceremony over Zoom with their closest friends. Now these two have celebrated their journey of life with an incredible day in Palm Springs at their AirBnB and at Serendipity Gardens in Oak Glen, CA. We wish every couple can have as relaxed and happy a relationship as these two do. To quote Jessica, "loving you has, and always will be, so easy."
Mackenzie and Aaron had such a down-to-earth approach to their wedding day. For them, traditions and events only matter if they allow you to have fun and create memories. Instead, their wedding day was all about being present and savoring every joyful moment - Aaron crying as he watched his bride walk down the aisle, their friends riding a scooter during their grand entrance, savoring a cold beer. Marina and Romany have been together for less than a year, but that in no way diminishes the love they have for one another. Their wedding day was a true reflection of their personalities - quiet and peaceful moments mixed with bombastic jubilation and cultural celebration. Caroline and Timothy had everything stacked against them the day of their wedding. Just a few examples:

- Groomsman trapped in an elevator for close to an hour? ✔️
But despite all of the impending disasters, Caroline and Timothy never lost their cool. Instead, they embraced the challenges as a part of their wedding story and looked for the fun the day still offered, and their wedding day was all the better for it.

Four years ago Kaitlynne and Adrian became work colleagues, flipping burgers and serving shakes at In-N-Out. Four years have gone by, full of hangouts with their brothers, late nights at Norms, and soaking in the excitement of monster truck rallies. And now, they begin a new adventure together as husband and wife. Congrats to these two In-N-Out lovers on their amazing journey!
Endurance and patience are two qualities every couple needs. Cory and Alisha's relationship is a perfect example of this. It all began when Cory dreamed one night about meeting a gorgeous blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl. He quickly dismissed it as a fantasy of the mind - that is, until he met Alisha one week later through his college basketball teammate. It was at that point that he realized God had made his dream come true, and they've been inseparable ever since. Alisha fell in love with Cory's silly, playful nature and willingness to bring levity during any stressful situation, and she quickly learned how protective he was of the people he loved. Cory came to appreciate her patience, her loving nature, and ability to organize and plan. And they both found a perfect match in their mutual love of animals, especially their puppy Golden Retriever Bella. But as with many things in life, the journey they embarked on had many twists and turns. For several years they had to maintain their relationship over long-distance, with Alisha studying abroad in Ireland and doing grad school in Wisconsin. While the distance tested their love and self-sacrifice, it also strengthened and refined their friendship and convinced them they could endure through any future challenge. COVID has thrown so many weddings out of wack this year, forcing couples to cancel, reschedule, or dramatically alter their wedding plans. In Hector and Sophia’s case, this meant shifting from a big party wedding in Ventura to a small elopement with family and friends in Temecula. But fear not - their big celebration event will still be happening later this year, circumstances permitting, and we can’t wait to share both parts of their wedding with you! Here’s a sneak peak of their beautiful elopement, and stay tuned for more of their story to come.
The great thing about California weddings is that we don’t really have a “winter.” Combine that with lovely coastal breezes and sunshine, you have the perfect recipe for an outdoor celebration, even in February! Congrats to Mishaun & James on their beautiful wedding at Wedgewood San Clemente, CA.
If this year has taught me anything, it's the importance of self-care. Take time to separate from work, from home, from any sources of stress and anxiety. One key way to do this is enjoying nature and the outdoors. Not only does this expose you to fresh air and sunshine, but the activity and beautiful surroundings can fill you with inspiration and provide a creative outlet for self-expression. In my case, I wanted to test myself and see if I could create a film capturing this experience with just a phone and a drone. Here is the result. Shoutout to Kraig Adams for always inspiring through his cinematic hiking films.
